Gilbert is a town in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States, located southeast of Phoenix, within the Phoenix metropolitan area. Once known as the “Hay Shipping Capital of the World”, It is the sixth-largest municipality in Arizona, and the fifth-largest in the Metropolitan Phoenix Area.
Once known as the “Hay Shipping Capital of the World,” Gilbert, Arizona has evolved into one of the fastest growing communities and the largest town in the United States. Encompassing 72.6 square miles, just southeast of Phoenix, Gilbert has transformed from an agricultural community to a thriving and economically-diverse suburban community.
Incorporated in 1920, Gilbert owes its beginnings to William “Bobby” Gilbert who provided land to the Arizona Eastern Railway in 1902 to construct a rail line between Phoenix and Florence, Arizona.
During the last three decades, Gilbert has seen tremendous growth, increasing in population from 5,717 in 1980 to more than 242,955 in 2015. Many recent accolades, including being named the 2nd Safest City and the 22nd Best Place to Live in the country, explain why so many want to live and do business in Gilbert.
Sunland Village
Sunland Village is located in east Mesa, Arizona. The Main Entrance to our community is on Diamond Ave. just east of Greenfield Rd. between Broadway Rd. and Southern Ave. If coming from Hwy 60 take the Greenfield Rd. exit and head north to the Diamond Ave. light. Head east into the community. The H.O.A. office is located at 4601 E. Dolphin Ave. Sunland Village in Mesa, Arizona is a 55 plus retirement community. This is the second of four Farnsworth developments in Mesa.
Community Construction started in 1974, and the community was built out by 1984. Once completed, there were a total of 2685 residences including single/family homes and condos. The community offers year around residents/winter residents numerous activities including an 18 hole golf course and a very active tennis club. The community is close to great shopping & great restaurants.

Superstition Springs
Superstition Springs Center, located in the heart of Mesa, is the perfect place for families to enjoy spending time together shopping, dining and playing. Anchored by Dillard’s, JCPenney, Macy’s and T.J. Maxx, the center attracts families with a family oriented retail selection.
The Center has more than 150 stores including Bath & Body Works, Buckle, rue21, The Children’s Place, Tilly’s and Victoria’s Secret. Eateries include The Cheesecake Factory and a Food Court which includes Chick-fil-A, Charleys Philly Steaks, Ha!Banero Mexican Grill, JC Wings, Panda Express, Sarku Japan, Sbarro and Dairy Queen/Orange Julius.

Freestone Park
Freestone Park was the Town of Gilbert’s first major District Park and began with 65 acres that opened to the public in June 1988. Original amenities were the softball fields, concession building & restrooms, “tot lot” exercise facility for adult fitness, 2 multiuse fields, and amphitheater. Additional acreage was added over time, leading to the current total of 88 developed acres and 32 undeveloped acres. The original cost of the park was $3.2 million for the land and $3.5 million for the improvements.
Freestone Park is also host to “The Freestone Railroad which boasts a miniature train, antique carousel, and a mini Ferris wheel plus the Rip City Batting cages which were all added in 1992. Extra amenities added to the park have included volleyball & basketball courts plus a courtside ramada in 1996. Further construction in 2001 included the tennis courts and skate Park. Finally, the Freestone Recreation Center was opened north of the park in December 2002.
Val Vista Lakes
Val Vista Lakes is more than just a great master-planned community. Our nine hundred acre “water-wonderland” consists of four spacious sports parks, meandering bicycle paths, and a luxurious clubhouse. The clubhouse features an eight-court championship tennis complex, indoor racquetball courts, cardio and weight training facilities, junior Olympic swimming pool and spa, banquet and meeting rooms, waterfalls and a tropical lagoon swimming pool with a sandy beach.
