Dental Emergencies

Always Act Immediately

  • Tooth that was injured and is now loose or completely out of your mouth
  • A filling that has become loose or has fallen out
  • A tooth that was cracked or fractured from eating or injury
  • Bleeding that won’t stop after a few minutes due to a bitten cheek or tongue

Types of Dental Emergencies

There are quite a few different situations that would qualify as dental emergencies. If you are facing any of the following situations, call us right away so we can help. Common dental emergencies include:

  • Facial trauma in or around the mouth following some type of accident or injury.
  • Something stuck in your mouth or stuck between your teeth, causing pain.
  • A dental abscess, as it could rupture or spread infection throughout your body.
  • Broken dentures, bridges, or partials, especially if the break injured your mouth.
  • Toothache or dental pain, especially if it had a sudden onset.
  • Excessive bleeding in your mouth from an unknown cause.

Getting Immediate Care

When you have a dental emergency, call us as soon as possible. If we are not in the office at the time, we will tell you how to proceed. If you cannot reach us for some reason, go to the nearest emergency room. It is never a good idea to postpone dental care when an emergency comes up.

The only way to maintain proper oral health and keep your teeth and oral tissues healthy following a dental emergency is to get immediate care. We will do everything we can to be available to you when an emergency arises and help alleviate both your fear and your pain.
